The Matsubara family have worked together for three generations using the traditional tools and techniques of the Edo period to produce a variety of works on stenciled, indigo-dyed cloth. In an age when chemical dyes and machination are commonplace, this family continues to work by hand using pure indigo which is produced in Japan. It is their hope that these traditional works will be appreciated for their natural loveliness.
